Happy Friday, beautiful souls.
I missed writing last week because Giovanni was sick and he was not his normal self, poor little guy. He had a fever for three days and was miserable, he couldn’t get comfortable and was clingy and wanted to be held a lot (not like him) or sit on the couch but even then he would cry and writhe in discomfort. A couple nights he couldn’t get comfortable so I just held him and laid in the guest bed until he got comfortable enough to sleep. Also the Friday holiday threw me off. Anyhow, I hope you all had a nice long weekend despite the lack of mocha.
This week (thankfully!) Giovanni is feeling a lot better but now I have been super busy with work. I am working a new project (long story) that is beyond all-consuming. I took over a program for someone who left government service and was given very little guidance so I have spent the past several weeks trying to teach myself a job. Despite how frustrating it has been, it has also been rewarding (in the what-doesn’t-kill-you-makes-you-stronger way).
I guarantee you next week’s mocha will be some anecdote about the course.
Happy Friday, beautiful souls, I wish you well and may you go with the flow. Some days (and weeks) are tiring and demanding and others are slow and lazy. And sometimes you need to elbow your way into your agenda and force yourself to take a break. Whatever it is, take care of yourself. In what has felt like the busiest time of my life, I had a filling fall out of my tooth and I stopped what I was doing and called several dentists until I found someone to get me in. A former boss once told me, “if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.” So even when life feels busy and overwhelming, you have to prioritize your self and and your health. I hope you are able to do that.
Sorry, no recipe this week but! I did want to share that my strawberry finches—all four of them!—have taken flight. It’s lonely without them. I don’t see their momma perched on the neighbors’ roof and I still sometimes look out for her and them. And while my poor strawberry plant suffered I am happy to know that it sheltered four little baby finches.
